Do not fertilize into transplant stress
Newly cut roots should not be forced with soluble fertilizer or manure in the planting hole. Establish water movement, drainage and early recovery before beginning a nutrition program.
Potassium is often the limiting issue
In warm, humid landscapes, potassium deficiency can show as spotting, orange discoloration and necrosis on older fronds. Removing those fronds too early can worsen the problem because the palm is still reallocating nutrients.
Balance potassium with magnesium
Correcting potassium without magnesium can induce a new imbalance. A complete palm fertilizer program is usually stronger than one-off applications based on a guess.

Water stress, planting depth and drainage problems can mimic nutrient deficiencies. Soil, water and tissue information help separate nutrition from cultural problems.
